Welcome to the 2020 Highland Sharks Swim Team!

The Highland Sharks are a competitive swim team serving Scotch Plains, Fanwood, Westfield and the surrounding areas for swimmers age 5 to 18 and has a rich 68-year tradition.

The Highland Swim Team's mission is to provide a safe, competitive swimming program that emphasizes personal improvement through stroke technique and training designed to maximize each swimmer's capability in competitive swimming.

Each summer we are growing and training new swimmers to maintain a well-rounded competitive swim team. Thank you for joining us and we are looking forward to meeting you.

As 2019 UCOSL champions, we were looking forward to having another competitive swim team in 2020.  The Union County Outdoor Swim League (UCOSL) has made the decision to not operate for the 2020 summer.  This was a difficult decision as our swimmers were looking forward to competing this summer.  That said, it was a prudent decision to help limit social interaction in consideration of COVID-19.

HSC will have a swim team for the 2020 summer.  We plan to offer a competitive training track for our 11-year-old and above swimmers as well as our traditional summer swim practice track.  The competitive track will be geared toward our year-round swimmers.  The practice schedule may be slightly different with the older swimmers practicing first.  Once we understand the how many swimmers will practice, we will finalize a practice schedule.  Practices will be structured following the social distancing rules established by the State of NJ.

We plan to start swim team training on Monday, June 29th and plan to run practices until August 7th.  There may be an option of a virtual swim meet with another club or internal scrimmage during the season.  More to come on the potential for swim meets.

Please send an email to for the link to sign-up for swim team.

We are asking for two volunteers to be our team parent representatives for 2020.  This is a great season to transition into this role as the swim team will operating with less activities and training is available to be provided.  if interested, please email us a or
