Caroline Lowder is returning to Highland for her first season as Head Coach for the 2025 season, after
5 fantastic summers as an Assistant Coach. Caroline started her own swim career as an 8/under
swimmer for Highland in 2016. She also recently finished her 10th season as a swimmer for the
Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Club Swim Team. This past season, Caroline was also a coach for the
FSPY 8/under swimmers. Caroline also swam for the Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School, and was a
varsity captain her senior year. Her favorite races are the 100 backstroke and, surprisingly, the 400 IM.
Caroline will be attending the University of Michigan as a freshman in fall, and she will be studying Finance.
Kayla Kerr is returning to Highland for her first season as Head Coach for the 2025 season, after 5
fantastic summers as an Assistant Coach. Kayla swam for Fanwood Scotch Plains YMCA swim team
and The Pingry School’s high school team. Her favorite races are the 500 and 1000 freestyle and 100
butterfly and her favorite stroke is freestyle. Kayla also ran cross country/track & field for The Pingry
School. Kayla will be continuing her academic and athletic career at Boston University in the fall, where
she will run cross country and track! Kayla will study Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
Keira St. John is returning to Highland for her first season as Head Coach for the 2025 season, after 5
fantastic summers as an Assistant Coach. Keira has been a Highland Shark since she was 7. Keira also
swam for the Scotch Plains Fanwood YMCA since she was 8 years old. She was also a proud varsity
swimmer for the Raiders at the Scotch Plains Fanwood High School, and a varsity captain her senior
year. Her favorite events are 100 breaststroke, 100 freestyle, & 200 IM. Keira will be attending the
University of Maryland-College Park in the fall, and she will be studying Business.
Tessa DeGennaro is returning to Highland as a second year assistant coach, and former volunteer
assistant. Tessa has been a Highland Shark since she was seven years old, swims competitively for the
Fanwood Scotch Plains YMCA, and for Fanwood Scotch Plains High School. This summer she will be
traveling to Florida to compete in the Long Course Nationals Swim Meet. Her favorite races are the 100
Breaststroke and 100 Freestyle. Tessa will be a Junior at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School in the fall
and is excited about coaching this summer.
Shae Trenery is returning for her first summer as an assistant coach, after previous summers as a
volunteer coach with the Highland swim team. Shae has been part of the team since she was six years
old and also swims competitively for the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA and Scotch Plains-Fanwood
High School. Shae will also be a part of the YMCA Long Course National Team for FSPY this summer.
Her favorite races are the 100 and 200 freestyle. Shae will be a senior in the fall and looks forward to a
fun and successful season with the Sharks as both a swimmer and coach.
